Industry leaders retrenched in late 2008 with deep workforce cuts and revised strategies. Vendors who planned well with weather the storm, but some startups face difficulty as venture capitalists make hard decisions over the next few months. It seems that hiring managers, thinking that they can be more selective, are screening for skills instead of mining for talent. Unless these hiring managers don’t care about employee engagement (such managers do exist!), I think this is the wrong approach. |
